Judges’ comments
Simon brings both passion and deep marketing expertise to his role at UCB and he clearly has a sharp instinct for exactly where an agency partner can add the greatest value. He has a great skill to both challenge and collaborate with agencies to produce bold work that goes way beyond traditional formats, always aiming for the most effective behavioural changes and impact. The panel noted that Simon has an approach fundamentally anchored to HCPs and delivery of what will be valuable for them – clinically relevant, practical content that’s useful in real-world settings. And moving away from data-heavy slide decks, Simon’s push for more immersive, yet structured, experience is a great way to embed learning and future engagement.
The panel found Simon to be wholly charming – he presented well, introduced himself and gave the panel a real flavour of who he was, coming across as enthusiastic, ambitious and genuinely excited about all the innovative initiatives. They saw that a huge benefit for anyone working with Simon is his keenness to embrace new ideas and explore new technologies, including AI of course, but any innovation that may elevate efficiency and quality of output. Simon’s ability to have very meaningful partnerships was also well received, with the panel seeing how he encourages open debate and constant feedback to achieve maximal impact on any project, and that his trust in agencies enables them to implement brave ideas.
With this ability to inspire teams to stretch beyond expectations and collaborate to realise everyone’s ambitions, Simon is making a tremendous difference in Pharma.
