Course Description
Enhancing the performance of others involves balancing leadership and management to create environments within which people engage and flourish. Management might be regarded as a concern for the task and process, whilst leadership focuses on people.
When promoted to a management position, it is likely that you have good technical knowledge and experience but you will most likely benefit from enhancing your people skills and personal power.
This course, facilitated over two, three-hour sessions introduces you to/reminds you about the skills, knowledge, and techniques required to succeed in a management position. As part of the course, you will enhance your self-awareness and outcomes-focused approach, learning key skills for coaching, delivering feedback that lands, team development, time-management and prioritisation.
Who is this course for?
This course is recommended for anyone working in a healthcare communications agency, for example in account management or medical writing, who is considering or about to take the next step in their career to a role where they will be managing others. It is also suitable for managers looking to refresh their leadership skills and those who haven’t received formal training in this area before.
After attending this People Management course, you will:
- Have developed/refreshed key skills, enabling you to successfully enhance the performance of others.
- Optimise the performance of the team you lead and, those within which you work.
- Prioritise your time and that of others for maximum productivity.
What is covered?
Module One
Pre-work:
- Discuss your personal learning objectives with your line manager
- Prepare a personal strengths & weaknesses analysis
- Complete a learning style questionnaire
Session:
- Review of course & personal learning objectives
- Personal strengths & weaknesses analysis, self-awareness
- Skills, knowledge & qualities of a successful manager/leader
- Leading others through balancing the support and direction you provide
- Enhancing motivation to perform
- Performance management/leadership
- Learning & preferred learning styles
Module Two
Pre-work:
- Complete a team synergy questionnaire
Session:
- Coaching, including practise
- Offering professional and effective feedback
- Stages of team development
- Individual strengths within a team & generating synergy
- Time management & prioritisation
