The Pharmaceutical Marketing Impact and Innovation (PMi) Awards, celebrating impact and innovation in pharmaceutical marketing and healthcare communications, launch on Thursday 27th March 2025.

After 15 years as the PM Society Digital Awards, and after taking feedback from our membership, this successful event has evolved its name in recognition that ‘digital’ is ubiquitous.

The emphasis is still on effectiveness (impact) and, of course, innovation in the concepts, formats, design of content and the use of a variety of media and channels. As the PM Society sets out its new vision to advance standards in our industry, so too the awards programme and branding has been refreshed and modernised to reflect this evolution.

The categories and judging criteria have, as usual, been considered with the new name in mind, and some tweaks made to long running categories. In line with changes and developments in technology and within the industry, there are also new categories.

Long standing categories remain: Brand promotion, HCP education, training and support, Disease and/or health awareness, Congress, meetings and events. Patient support programmes, Customer engagement excellence, External and Internal Communications, Evolving for success, Healthcare charities and Film, animation and video.

New or evolved categories are: Independent medical education, Clinical trial recruitment and retention, Impact in pharma technology and Innovation in marketing and communications.

People categories are Agency champion, Pharma partner of the year plus Agency of the Year (headcount over 30) and Agency of the Year (headcount under 30).

PM Society Director Rachel Farrow and lead for the Digital Awards for all 15 years said  – “I’m excited to announce the launch of the PMis. It was time to change the name of the Digital Awards, and we’ve been talking about it for a few years. In 2024 we held several steering group discussions involving awards sponsors, entrants, winners and attendees of these popular awards, and the feedback was hugely useful in developing our plan. The message was that we should retain the focus on effectiveness that the Digital Awards had become known for, but that the word ‘digital’ was a problem. So we’ve listened and evolved the name and brand, including a brand new trophy which I can’t wait to hold! We’ve also added a few new exciting categories in the process. I’m very happy to see the two agency categories replace the single category we had before. This reflects the desire to help smaller agencies raise their profiles and fly the flag for brilliant specialist independents alongside the larger agencies and networks.”

The PMi Awards will be held at the Brewery in London on 11th September, 2025.
