The PM (Pharmaceutical Marketing) Society is delighted to announce a new partnership with MATRI, promoting specialist programmes that support working parents through parental leave and return to work. Alongside these programmes, members and their organisations can explore a separate MATRI training course for managers supporting parents in their teams.
Founded by executive coach and former VCCP leader Sophie Maunder, MATRI draws on her experience of combining senior agency leadership with motherhood and supporting colleagues through the same transition. Its parent offering includes an 18-month Mothers programme combining online resources, live group coaching, expert webinars and community, an on-demand Fathers programme, and optional individual coaching, complemented by separate manager training. VCCP, MATRI’s founding client, reported in April 2025 that Sophie’s maternity coaching programme had helped it achieve 93% retention among staff returning from maternity leave, saving 9 job roles and a recruitment cost of over £400k.
For pharmaceutical marketing, communications and agency professionals, parental leave can bring questions about confidence, client relationships and career progression alongside new responsibilities at home. MATRI gives parents structured support throughout that transition, while its separate manager training helps organisations strengthen the everyday conversations and decisions that shape their experience. By promoting both options, the PM Society is helping members support their own careers and retain experienced people within their teams.
“Supporting our members throughout their careers includes recognising the moments when the right support can make a lasting difference. Through MATRI’s programmes for parents and its complementary manager training, we can help members navigate this transition themselves and better support the people they lead.”
Rachel Farrow, Managing Director, PM Society
“I know from my own experience that you can love your career and love being a parent, yet still find bringing the two together incredibly challenging. I created MATRI to give parents practical support throughout that transition, and our manager training helps the people around them play their part. I’m delighted that the PM Society will help us bring both to a community whose professional pressures I understand first-hand.”
