Respiratory is a core therapeutic area for GSK: boasting a rich portfolio of medicines across a wide range of respiratory conditions alongside an ongoing commitment to a respiratory pipeline and research in the field.

 

In the face of considerable competition, three highly interactive and visually arresting assets were designed to help draw attendees onto the medical stand at the European Respiratory Society congress in London. Entirely above brand, these experiences helped bolster GSK’s position as leaders in respiratory medicine, demonstrate their continued investment and commitment, and facilitate much needed discussions on current science.

Silver: Dining Experience 'Tiny Chef' Velphoro

Hyperphosphataemia is a silent killer in patients with chronic kidney disease. Diet management is a key factor in controlling this condition, yet Nephrologists rarely discuss diet with patients.

 

The VELPHORO® dining experience was an immersive exhibition booth experience which merged the virtual world with the real one. A mock high-end restaurant environment, with live waiter, was created to raise awareness of the importance of diet management. Delegates were challenged to order a meal with the lowest phosphorous content.

 

The ‘winning’ meal was then ‘cooked’ on the table by an animated miniature chef, using the specialist technique of 3D projection mapping.

We had a bold objective with our 2016 ERS congress experience; to ensure that GSK were seen as the leaders in respiratory medicine. Given that London is the home of GSK we wanted to make our presence bigger and bolder (and more effective) than any year before. Our “Live Every Breath” campaign lived across media touch points at City Airport and continued at ExCeL, with a hanging LED paneled crown, touchscreens, footpads and multi-touch video walls. The ambient and interactive brand experience was bold and innovative, and ranked GSK a top exhibitor at the event.

Partnering with the NHS to provide an interactive digital health zone at NHS Expo. Teva UK content was displayed through leap motion, interactive walls and 3D printing. The NHS also had leap motion and VR. In addition, telepresence robots undertook surveys and digital pledges were collected and shown in a forest of leaves that produced an outcomes document mentioned in The Sunday Times and The Guardian.

 

The true partnership approach not only demonstrated effectiveness with pharma and NHS but also how different innovative initiatives could work side by side.
