Gold: It's hard to see when CAC starts

Cancer Anorexia Cachexia (CAC) affects many cancer patients and significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality. However, it is poorly understood by both patients and professionals. In order to raise awareness of CAC, a hero video was developed for the Cancer Anorexia Hub, an on-line educational resource for oncology professionals. The video was also utilised by MSLs, in eCRM, on stand and in pro-active outreach to patient advocacy groups and at patient events. The video is provocative, shocking and based on real patient and carer insights. By highlighting the huge unmet needs in this area, we hope to effect real change.

Silver: The instant camera with type 2 diabetes

In 2016 Ascensia Diabetes Care launched a new blood glucose monitoring system, through their Contour Diabetes Solutions brand, helping patients manage their diabetes smarter.

However because HCPs are wary of recommending new technology we needed to prepare the market.

A social media campaign linked to a series of videos that used real testimonies from patients highlighting the need for change and directed HCPs to a microsite to register for news and updates on the future of diabetes.

Over a short campaign of just one month the campaign had over 25,000 engagements and gathered a total of 1,099 registrations.

The treatment of metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer represents a new challenge to many urologists who until recently were not used to treating cancer. In contrast to their oncologist counterparts, they are less familiar with emerging treatments and the science behind them. Traditional ways of presenting mechanism of action(MoA) are viewed as being too technical/ complicated and animations too similar to each other. We adopted a fresh approach to telling the MoA story using metaphor to make the complex simple and differentiate from the competition.

Endocrinology nurses offer paediatric patients a choice of Growth Hormone Treatment (GHT). How the treatment devices are presented to patients and their parents greatly impacts their decision.

 

To instantly captivate our audience to engage with our device, we presented a series of short animated films on DVD and USB as part of a child’s storybook. Our friendly characters told their GHT story and delivered information in a succinct, informative, yet playful way. The animation style resonated with our target audience and reassured patients, in a format and tone entirely on a young person’s level.

This animation was created for parents and siblings of newly-diagnosed SMA patients. Simple in style and message, the animation was designed to offer reassurance at an incredibly difficult time. In the animation, we meet Toby (who has SMA) as well as his brother James and their parents. This was to help families – particularly young siblings – to relate to the story. The film also addresses some complex scientific issues that parents need to understand, but the simple, friendly character design and animation style ensures these topics never feel overwhelming.
